| Product Description | |
IDH2 also known as IDHM is the NADP(+)-dependent isocitrate dehydrogenase found in the mitochondria. IDH2 plays a vital role in cellular metabolism by catalyzing the conversion of isocitrate to alpha-ketoglutarate while reducing NADP+ to NADPH, which is essential for maintaining the cellular redox state and supporting the synthesis of glutathione, a key antioxidant. The proper functioning of IDH2 is critical for energy production and intermediary metabolism, as IDH2 helps regulate the balance of metabolic intermediates in the mitochondria. Additionally, IDH2 forms a homodimer in the mitochondrion and can bind one magnesium or manganese ion per subunit, which is important for enzymatic activity. |
