LGR6 also known as GPCR is a member of the leucine-rich repeat-containing subgroup of the G protein-coupled 7-transmembrane protein superfamily. LGR6 is essential for transmitting signals from outside the cell to inside, thereby influencing various physiological processes. LGR6 is predominantly expressed in the adrenal gland, ovary, and uterus, highlighting potential involvement in reproductive and endocrine functions. The unique structure of LGR6, characterized by an N-terminal ectodomain with variable leucine-rich repeats, a seven transmembrane region, and a distinctive C-terminal intracellular tail, allows interaction with specific G proteins, which are vital for the synthesis of intracellular second messengers.
