GSDMD also known as GSDMDC1, Gasdermin D is a member of the gasdermin family. GSDMD consisting of 484 amino acids, plays a crucial role in regulating cell death and inflammation, which is vital for maintaining tissue homeostasis and responding to cellular stress. GSDMD function is particularly important in various diseases, including cancer, where dysregulation of cell death pathways can lead to tumor progression and resistance to therapy. GSDMD gene is located on human chromosome 8, a region implicated in several genetic disorders and malignancies. Notably, alterations in chromosome 8, such as translocations and amplifications, are often associated with poor prognoses in leukemias and lymphomas.
