Product Description

CYFIP1 is a protein that regulates cytoskeletal dynamics and protein translation. CYFIP1 protein is a component of the WAVE regulatory complex (WRC), which promotes actin polymerization. CYFIP1 protein also interacts with the synaptic functional regulator FMR1 protein and translation initiation factor 4E to inhibit protein translation. Altered CYFIP1 dosage and network connectivity have been associated with neurodevelopmental phenotypes, including autism spectrum disorder and schizophrenia-related pathways, and with disruptions in excitatory–inhibitory balance. In addition, CYFIP1-mediated control of cytoskeletal dynamics is relevant to cell migration and adhesion programs studied in diverse cellular contexts.
