| Product Description | |
CLIC1 also known as NCC27, G6 is a crucial member of a highly conserved family of chloride ion channels that can exist in both soluble and integral membrane forms. CLIC1 is primarily located in the cytoplasm and can translocate to the plasma membrane, where CLIC1 plays a vital role in regulating chloride ion transport across cellular membranes. This transport is essential for maintaining cellular homeostasis, influencing processes such as cell volume regulation, signal transduction, and muscle contraction. Notably, CLIC1′s ability to form anion-selective channels is modulated by redox state; CLIC1 exists as a monomer in a reduced environment but dimerizes upon oxidation, facilitating channel formation in lipid bilayers and vesicles. |
