Product Description

AQP1(Aquaporin 1) is a small integral membrane protein with six bilayer spanning domains that functions as a water channel protein. This protein permits passive transport of water along an osmotic gradient. AQP1 is a possible candidate for disorders involving imbalance in ocular fluid movement. AQP1 expression is highest in erythrocytes and renal tubule cells, contributing to renal water absorption and fluid homeostasis regulation. AQP1 presence in these locations highlights a crucial role in physiological processes like urine concentration and blood volume maintenance. As part of a larger aquaporin family, AQP1 works alongside various isoforms that transport other small solutes, demonstrating diverse roles in cellular hydration and nutrient transport.
