| Product Description | |
GARS also known as GlyRS, GARS1 is one of the aminoacyl-tRNA synthetases that charge tRNAs with their cognate amino acids. GARS plays a vital role in protein synthesis by catalyzing the attachment of glycine to its corresponding tRNA, thereby ensuring accurate translation of genetic information into functional proteins. GARS is predominantly expressed in the brain and spinal cord, highlighting GARS importance in neural function and development. Notably, defects in GARS are linked to Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease type 2D (CMT2D), an autosomal dominant disorder characterized by significant muscle weakness and atrophy, particularly affecting the upper extremities. |
