| Product Description | |
Olig2 also known as BHLHB1 is a basic helix-loop-helix transcription factor which is expressed in oligodendroglial tumors of the brain. Olig2 plays a crucial role in the development of oligodendrocytes, which are essential for the formation of myelin sheaths that insulate nerve fibers in the central nervous system. This myelination is vital for proper neuronal function and signal transmission, and disruptions in OLIG2 expression can lead to various neurological disorders. OLIG2 is predominantly expressed in the embryonic brain and is involved in regulating oligodendrogenesis, making OLIG2 a key player in the development of the nervous system. Additionally, OLIG2 interacts with the Nkx-2.2 homeodomain protein, which is critical for ventral neuronal patterning during embryonic development. |
