Product Description | |
β-Tubulin also known as Tubulin beta-1 chain, TUBB is a beta tubulin protein. This protein forms a dimer with α-Tubulin to form heterodimers that polymerize into microtubule filaments, essential for maintaining cell shape, enabling intracellular transport, and facilitating cell division. The structural integrity and dynamic instability of microtubules, governed by the assembly and disassembly of these heterodimers, are fundamental for processes such as mitosis, vesicle trafficking, and neuronal function. Mutations in this gene cause cortical dysplasia, complex, with other brain malformations 6. Alternative splicing results in multiple splice variants. There are multiple pseudogenes for this gene on chromosomes 1, 6, 7, 8, 9, and 13. |
