| Product Description | |
PRMT5(Protein arginine methyltransferase 5) is an enzyme that belongs to the methyltransferase family. PRMT5 plays a crucial role in regulating gene expression and cell proliferation through its function as a type II protein-arginine methyltransferase, which catalyzes symmetrical dimethylation of arginine residues on target proteins. This post-translational modification is essential for spliceosome assembly, a complex responsible for processing pre-mRNA into mature mRNA, as PRMT5 facilitates binding of Sm proteins to small nuclear RNAs (snRNAs). Methylation of Sm proteins by PRMT5 enhances stability and function, thereby influencing splicing processes and impacting gene expression. |
