| Product Description | |
SUMO1 is a protein that is a member of the SUMO (small ubiquitin-like modifier) protein family. plays a crucial role in various cellular processes, including nuclear transport, transcriptional regulation, and apoptosis, by modifying target proteins through a process known as sumoylation. Unlike ubiquitin, which primarily tags proteins for degradation, SUMO1 modifies proteins to enhance stability and functionality, making SUMO1 essential for maintaining cellular homeostasis. SUMO1 is predominantly localized to the nuclear membrane and nuclear bodies, where SUMO1 interacts with key regulatory proteins such as IκBa, MDM2, and p53, influencing their activity and stability. |
