Product Description | |
MAZ also known as ZF87, Pur-1 is a crucial transcription factor that plays a significant role in regulating gene expression by participating in both initiation and termination of transcription. MAZ functions as a transcriptional repressor, exerting effects independently of the c-Myc promoter, which is essential for maintaining proper cellular function and preventing aberrant gene expression. MAZ protein is primarily located in the nucleus, where MAZ interacts with various transcription factors, including SP1, to modulate the expression of genes such as the parathyroid hormone receptor and serotonin 1A receptor. This interaction is vital for tissue-specific gene expression, as competition between MAZ and SP1 can influence the regulation of the PNMT gene, highlighting MAZ′s importance in cellular differentiation and development. |
