IRF-7(Interferon regulatory factor 7) also kown as IMD39 is a member of the interferon regulatory transcription factor (IRF) family. IRF-7 plays a crucial role in immune response by regulating type I interferons expression, which are vital for antiviral defense. IRF-7 is primarily located in the nucleus, where this transcription factor activates interferon-α and interferon-β genes expression in response to viral infections. Nuclear localization enables direct influence on cellular transcriptional machinery, enhancing interferon production to orchestrate immune response. Nuclear translocation upon activation underscores IRF-7′s importance in signaling pathways that mediate host defense against pathogens.
