Product Description

LRP6 is a member of the low density lipoprotein (LDL) receptor gene family. LRP6 plays a crucial role in mediating Wnt/β-catenin signaling, a pathway essential for numerous developmental processes such as body axis patterning, central nervous system development, limb formation, and organogenesis. This signaling pathway is vital for maintaining cellular functions and tissue homeostasis, and dysregulation of LRP6 has been implicated in various diseases, including cancer and metabolic disorders. The human LRP6 gene is located on chromosome 12p13.2 and encodes a protein characterized by a unique arrangement of four epidermal growth factor (EGF) repeats and three low-density lipoprotein receptor (LDLR) repeats in its extracellular domain, which are critical for its interaction with Wnt ligands.
