Product Description | |
PP1α also known as PP1A, PPP1CA is one of the three catalytic subunits of protein phosphatase 1 (PP1). PP1α is a critical serine/threonine-protein phosphatase localized predominantly in both the nucleus and cytoplasm of eukaryotic cells, where PP1α plays an essential role in regulating various cellular functions including cell division, homeostasis, and apoptosis through the dephosphorylation of target proteins. The precise localization of PP1α within the cell is vital for function, as PP1α ensures the correct modulation of phosphorylation states in specific cellular compartments, thereby maintaining cellular balance and responding to signaling cues. PP1α operates as part of the PP1 holoenzyme complex, interacting with regulatory and variable subunits to achieve substrate specificity and regulation. |
