Product Description | |
SSH3 also known as Slingshot homolog 3, SSH3L is a 659 amino acid protein that plays a crucial role in regulating actin filament dynamics, which is essential for various cellular processes such as motility, shape, and division. SSH3 is localized in both the nucleus and cytoplasm, allowing SSH3 to interact with key regulatory proteins involved in actin remodeling. SSH3 functions as a protein phosphatase, specifically targeting the ADF/Cofilin family of proteins, which are critical for the rapid depolymerization and disassembly of filamentous actin (F-actin) in response to cellular signals. By dephosphorylating ADF and Cofilin, SSH3 reactivates these proteins, enabling them to effectively regulate actin dynamics and maintain cellular architecture. SSH3 is expressed as five isoforms due to alternative splicing, which may contribute to SSH3′s functional diversity and regulatory mechanisms in different cellular contexts. |
