Product Description | |
Ezrin also known as EZR plays a crucial role in linking the cytoskeleton to the plasma membrane, which is essential for maintaining cell shape and facilitating cellular signaling. Ezrin is primarily located just beneath the plasma membrane, where Ezrin interacts with other cytoskeletal and membrane proteins, thereby influencing processes such as cell adhesion, migration, and morphology. Notably, Ezrin acts as a major cytoplasmic substrate for various protein-tyrosine kinases, including the epidermal growth factor receptor, and functions as an A-kinase anchoring protein, designated AKAP78. Ezrin′s interaction with Moesin and Radixin, which share over 70% homology, highlights the importance of this protein family in cellular dynamics, as these proteins exhibit distinct receptor-specific patterns of phosphorylation despite their similarities. This specificity is vital for the regulation of various signaling pathways, making Ezrin a key player in cellular responses to external stimuli. |
