| Product Description | |
eIF4G also known as P220, eIF4G1 is a component of the multi-subunit protein complex EIF4F. This complex facilitates the recruitment of mRNA to the ribosome, which is a rate-limiting step during the initiation phase of protein synthesis.eIF4G plays a crucial role in the initiation of protein synthesis in eukaryotic cells, functioning as a key component of the eukaryotic initiation factor 4F (eIF4F) complex, which is essential for the recruitment of ribosomes to messenger RNA (mRNA). This complex is vital for the translation process, as eIF4G serves as a scaffold that links eIF4E, which binds to the mRNA cap, and eIF4A, an ATP-dependent RNA helicase that unwinds mRNA secondary structures. By facilitating these interactions, eIF4G ensures efficient translation initiation, which is critical for proper cellular function and response to environmental signals. |
