| Product Description | |
Akt3 also known as PKBγ is a member of the serine/threonine kinase Akt family, which plays a crucial role in various cellular processes, including metabolism, cell survival, and growth. One of the key features of Akt3 is its pleckstrin homology domain, which is essential for activation by phosphoinositides. This domain allows Akt3 to translocate to the plasma membrane upon stimulation by growth factors, where Akt3 becomes phosphorylated and activated. Proper functioning of Akt3 is vital for insulin signaling, as Akt3 mediates glucose uptake and glycogen synthesis in response to insulin. Dysregulation of Akt3 has been implicated in various diseases, including cancer and metabolic disorders, making Akt3 an important target for therapeutic intervention. |
