| Product Description | |
VEGF-D also known as FIGF is a member of the platelet-derived growth factor/vascular endothelial growth factor (PDGF/VEGF) family and is active in angiogenesis, lymphangiogenesis, and endothelial cell growth. VEGF-D plays a crucial role in angiogenesis, which is the formation of new blood vessels from pre-existing ones. This process is vital not only for normal physiological functions such as wound healing and tissue repair but also in pathological conditions like cancer, where tumor growth and metastasis are facilitated by the development of a robust blood supply. The central region of VEGF-D contains eight cysteine residues that are essential for homodimerization, a structural feature that is critical for biological activity. Additionally, VEGF-D is induced by c-Fos, a transcription factor implicated in the progression of early-stage tumors to malignant forms. |
