Product Description

BRIP1 also known as BACH1 is ubiquitously expressed with highest levels in testis, an expression pattern similar to that of BRCA1. BRIP1 plays a crucial role in maintaining genomic stability by participating in DNA repair processes. Specifically, BRIP1 is essential for resolving secondary structures of guanine-rich DNA that can form during lagging-strand DNA synthesis, which is vital for preventing genomic instability that can lead to tumorigenesis. BRIP1 binds directly to the BRCT repeats of BRCA1, and this complex formation is critical for BRCA1′s function in DNA damage response. Phosphorylation of BRIP1 at Ser 990 is required for BRCA1 interaction, linking BRIP1′s activity to the DNA damage-induced checkpoint control during the G2 to M phase transition of the cell cycle.
