FTY720 is a sphingosine-1-phosphate receptor modulator that sequesters lymphocytes in lymph nodes, inhibiting their contribution to autoimmune responses. It is derived from myriocin (ISP-1), a fungal metabolite. FTY720 is also reported to be a cPLA2 inhibitor, a ceramide synthase inhibitor, and a cannabinoid receptor antagonist.
