Product Description

SFRP2 (also designated FRP-2, SARP1) is a member of the SFRP family that contains a cysteine-rich domain homologous to the putative Wnt-binding site of Frizzled proteins. SFRPs act as soluble modulators of Wnt signaling. Methylation of this gene is a potential marker for the presence of colorectal cancer. The frizzled gene, originally identified in Drosophila melanogaster, was shown to be involved in the development of tissue polarity.maps to chromosome 4q31.3 and is expressed in retinal pigment epithelium (RPE) and pancreas, while expression of FRP-1, 2 and 4 is high in developing tissues.
