Product Description

RPS3(Ribosomal protein S3) is a ribosomal protein that is a component of the 40S subunit, where it forms part of the domain where translation is initiated. RPS3 plays a significant role in translation and ribosome maturation. RPS3 mediates the formation of the mRNA binding site located 3′ of the codon in the decoding site, which is essential for accurate protein synthesis. RPS3 also participates in DNA damage recognition, demonstrating a strong affinity for abasic sites and 7,8-dihydro-8-oxoguanine residues. This interaction supports base excision repair processes, as RPS3 collaborates with human base excision repair proteins such as OGG1 and Ref-1, highlighting RPS3′s importance not only in ribosomal function but also in maintaining genomic integrity. Nuclear export of ribosomal subunits, including RPS3, is a highly regulated, energy-dependent process, underscoring RPS3′s significance in cellular function and potential implications in various biological processes and diseases.
