Product Description

PHB2 also known as Prohibitin 2 is an evolutionarily conserved protein that plays a crucial role in regulating the cell cycle, particularly by inhibiting the G1 to S phase transition, which is vital for maintaining proper cellular proliferation and preventing uncontrolled growth. PHB2 is predominantly localized in the inner mitochondrial membrane, where PHB2 not only contributes to mitochondrial function but also acts as a tumor suppressor by interacting with retinoblastoma (Rb) protein and inhibiting E2F family members, thereby regulating gene expression in response to various signaling pathways. PHB2 is involved in B cell maturation at the plasma membrane, highlighting Prohibitin 2′s importance in immune responses.
