Product Description

Chromogranin A also known as CGA, Chr-A is a member of the chromogranin/secretogranin family of neuroendocrine secretory proteins. Chromogranin A plays a crucial role in hormone and neuropeptide storage and release. Chr-A presence is particularly significant in neuroendocrine tumors, where elevated levels can serve as a biomarker for diagnosis and monitoring. Chromogranin A is also the precursor for several biologically active peptides, including pancreastatin, which regulates insulin and gastric acid secretion, highlighting Chromogranin A importance in metabolic processes. Chromogranin A interaction with other proteins, such as carboxypeptidase E, further underscores Chromogranin A role in neuropeptide processing and secretion, making Chromogranin A a vital component in the neuroendocrine system.
