PCTAIRE1 also known as PCTK1, CDK16 is a member of the cdc2/cdkx subfamily of the ser/thr family of protein kinases. PCTAIRE1 plays a crucial role in cell cycle regulation, functioning as a serine/threonine kinase that is part of a subfamily of cyclin-dependent kinases (Cdks). PCTAIRE1 is primarily expressed in the mammalian brain and is involved in phosphorylating key substrates that drive cell cycle progression, thereby influencing cellular proliferation and differentiation. PCTAIRE1 interacts with various proteins, contributing to multiple signaling pathways that are essential for neuronal function and development.
