| Product Description | |
CRY1 is a flavin adenine dinucleotide-binding protein that is a key component of the circadian core oscillator complex, which regulates the circadian clock. CRY1 functions as a light-independent inhibitor of the circadian clock, interacting with key components such as Clock and BMAL1 to regulate gene expression involved in the light/dark cycle. Located primarily in the nucleus, CRY1 plays a vital role in the negative feedback loop that stabilizes circadian rhythms by forming heterodimers with other proteins like Per1 and Per2, which in turn inhibit Clock-BMAL1 dimer activity. This interaction is essential for proper functioning of the suprachiasmatic nucleus, the brain′s master clock, ensuring that physiological processes such as hormonal rhythms, sleep cycles, and feeding behaviors are synchronized with environmental light cues. |
