Product Description

Prdx2 also knonw as PRXII is a member of the peroxiredoxin family of antioxidant enzymes, which reduce hydrogen peroxide and alkyl hydroperoxides. Prdx2 plays a crucial role in cellular defense against oxidative stress by reducing reactive oxygen species (ROS), thereby protecting cells from damage that can lead to various diseases, including cancer and neurodegenerative disorders. Prdx2 is primarily localized in the cytoplasm and is known to interact with thioredoxin, which serves as its electron donor during the antioxidation process. Prdx2′s cytoplasmic localization enables rapid response to oxidative stress, allowing for efficient detoxification of ROS in the cellular environment. Prdx2 is overexpressed in certain cancers, such as breast cancer, indicating its potential role in tumorigenesis and progression.
