| Product Description | |
DNA Ligase I also known as LIG1 is a member of the ATP-dependent DNA ligase protein family. DNA Ligase I plays a vital role in DNA replication and repair by joining Okazaki fragments during lagging strand synthesis and sealing nicks in DNA during excision repair processes. DNA Ligase I is predominantly located in the nucleus, where DNA Ligase I activity is essential for proper DNA repair pathways, ensuring efficient repair of DNA breaks to prevent genomic instability. Notably, elevated levels of DNA Ligase I have been observed in various human tumors compared to benign tissues, highlighting DNA Ligase I potential as a biomarker for cancer progression and a target for therapeutic intervention. Additionally, DNA Ligase I antisense oligonucleotides have been shown to reduce tumor cell proliferation, suggesting a significant role in cancer biology. |
