IQGAP2 is a member of the IQGAP family. IQGAP2 plays a crucial role in cellular signaling and cytoskeletal dynamics, acting as a scaffold that facilitates interactions between small GTPases, such as Cdc42 and Rac1, and other signaling molecules. These interactions are vital for regulating cadherin-mediated cell-cell adhesion, which is essential for maintaining tissue integrity and cellular communication. IQGAP2, along with IQGAP1 homolog, contains several conserved domains, including a RasGAP domain and multiple calmodulin-binding domains, which are important for actin binding and GTPase regulation. IQGAP2 can bind to both active GTP-bound and inactive GDP-bound forms of Cdc42, allowing modulation of GTPase activity and influence on various cellular processes, including cell migration and proliferation. IQGAP2′s interactions with other proteins, such as Rac1 and calmodulin, further underscore significance in orchestrating complex signaling pathways that govern cellular behavior. |
