Product Description

hnRNP Q also known as HNRNPQ, SYNCRIP is a member of the cellular heterogeneous nuclear ribonucleoprotein (hnRNP) family. hnRNP Q plays a pivotal role in RNA processing, particularly in regulating pre-mRNA splicing, which is essential for proper gene expression. hnRNP Q is widely expressed across different tissues and is developmentally regulated, highlighting its importance in various biological processes. hnRNP Q interacts with several key proteins, including survival motor neuron protein (SMN), which is crucial for motor neuron health. Disruption of hnRNP Q and SMN interaction due to genetic mutations can lead to spinal muscular atrophy, a severe neurodegenerative disorder. Additionally, hnRNP Q exhibits a unique expression pattern, being upregulated after midnight, which correlates with a decline in AANAT, the enzyme responsible for melatonin synthesis.
