ATF-5 also known as ATFX is a 282 amino acid protein, which belongs to the bZIP family. ATF-5 plays a crucial role in cellular stress responses and is involved in the regulation of gene expression during conditions such as hypoxia and nutrient deprivation. ATF-5′s ability to modulate transcription in response to stress is vital for cell survival and adaptation, making ATF-5 an important target for research in cancer and neurodegenerative diseases. ATF-5 localizes in both the cytoplasm and nucleus, where ATF-5 functions as a dimer to bind DNA, and interacts with other proteins such as CCND3 and PTP4A1, which are involved in cell cycle regulation and signal transduction pathways. |
