Product Description

α/β-synuclein also known as SNCA/SNCB are presynaptic proteins predominantly expressed in the brain, where they play crucial roles in synaptic regulation and neuronal plasticity. Nitration is a significant post-translational modification of α-synuclein that is implicated in the pathogenesis of neurodegenerative diseases like Parkinson′s disease, as nitration affects protein aggregation and toxicity. α-Synuclein interacts with several key proteins, including synphilin-1, which contributes to the formation of Lewy bodies, and Parkin, an E3 ubiquitin ligase involved in protein degradation pathways. β-Synuclein interacts with proteins such as tau, which is important in Alzheimer′s disease, highlighting β-synuclein′s role in neuronal health. Nitration of these synucleins alters interactions with binding partners, thereby influencing function and contributing to disease progression.
