DCC′s interaction with Netrin-1, a key chemoattractant for commissural axons in the spinal cord, underscores DCC′s importance in guiding neuronal growth and establishing proper neural connections. Loss of DCC expression has been linked to various cancers, including colorectal, breast, endometrial, brain, pancreatic, and prostate cancers, as well as leukemias and neuroblastomas, highlighting DCC′s potential role as a tumor suppressor. |
