Nur77 also known as NR4A1, TR3 is a member of the nuclear receptor superfamily. Nur77 plays a crucial role in regulating gene expression in response to growth factors and cellular stress. Nur77 is primarily located in the nucleus, where this protein functions as a transcription factor that can modulate the expression of genes involved in cell survival, differentiation, and apoptosis. Nuclear localization of Nur77 is essential for its role in T cell receptor-mediated apoptosis, as this protein interacts with specific DNA sequences and recruits other transcriptional co-regulators. Notably, Nur77 is rapidly induced in activated T cells during the transition from the G0 to G1 phase of the cell cycle, highlighting Nur77′s importance in T cell activation and function. |
