Product Description

cPLA2 also knonwn PLA2G4A is a member of the cytosolic phospholipase A2 group IV family. cPLA2 plays a crucial role in the hydrolysis of membrane phospholipids, specifically targeting the sn-2-acyl ester bond. This enzymatic activity is vital for the release of arachidonic acid, a key precursor in the biosynthesis of eicosanoids, which include potent inflammatory mediators such as prostaglandins and leukotrienes. cPLA2 protein generates these bioactive lipids essential for various physiological processes, including inflammation, pain response, and immune regulation. cPLA2 protein is predominantly located in the cytosol of various cell types, including platelets, macrophages, and monoblasts, where activation occurs in response to increases in intracellular calcium levels.
