The Fos gene family consists of 4 members: FOS, FOSB, FOSL1, and FOSL2. As a nuclear phosphoprotein, FosB undergoes sophisticated regulation through post-translational modifications, particularly phosphorylation, which fine-tunes FosB′s stability, subcellular localization, and ability to form complexes with Jun family proteins.
