PLCγ2 also known as PLCgamma2, PLCG2 is a transmembrane signaling enzyme. PLCγ2 is an essential enzyme located primarily at the plasma membrane and within cytoplasmic signaling complexes, where PLCγ2 plays a crucial role in intracellular signal transduction by hydrolyzing phosphatidylinositol 4,5-bisphosphate to generate the second messengers inositol 1,4,5-triphosphate and diacylglycerol. These messengers are vital for processes such as calcium mobilization and the activation of protein kinase C, which are fundamental for immune cell function and response. The strategic cellular localization of PLCγ2 allows PLCγ2 to effectively participate in B cell receptor signaling and other immune-related pathways, making PLCγ2 a key player in maintaining immune system homeostasis. |
